FAQ's

How often will my child practice?

We practice year around. Gymnastics takes muscle memory, the more they are in the gym, the better. Practices are structured to improve strength, flexibility, teamwork, positivity and skill level.

What if my child misses a class, can they make up?

There may be times that your child is not able to attend a practice. There may be cases where you are able to make up gym time but that is at the coaches discretion and must be preapproved and agreed on and can only be used on an as needed basis.

What should my child wear for classes?

We do not require that a leotard be worn during class.  However, if your child happens to have one, they are encourages to wear it. If not, a shirt and shorts, capris, or tight fitting pants are appropriate. Clothing with buttons, zippers, or snaps are prohibited. Our gymnasts will not wear socks during class. This can cause injury on the equipment and they could slip.

Can my child wear jewelry?

No jewelry is allowed other than one set of stud earrings. Jewelry can get caught on clothing, equipment, coaches and other students and can cause injury.

When can I expect my child to move up a level?

Our teams are broken down into 5 levels. Training Team, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Evaluations are held in the spring of each year. Once the season begins in August, your daughter will be placed at that level. In order to move to the next level, they need to safely obtain the skills required on all 4 events. There may be cases where a gymnast is moved up a level during the competitive season, this is determined by the Director and Coach.

When is the competition season?

Competition season runs from January- April.

Can my child take a season off?

Yes, you can always take a session or two off, however, we cannot hold your spot. Also, gymnastics is a sport that is year-round. When your child is out of it for any length of time, they can lose skills and stregnth.  We encourage our students to stay in the program year- round so they can progress and move up at a more continuous pace.

What are some costs associated with being on the team?

Monthly dues: These are determined by level, as the different levels spend different amounts of time in the gym.

Competition leotards: These are used for 2 years, the cost is roughly $200 for these.

Warm ups: estimated cost $50-$100

Meet fees: These are announced as we register for meets. The cost per meet roughly $125-$140 per meet. This includes the registration for the gymnast, the team and any coach fees. This does not include any travel expenses if you choose to stay overnight.

Admin fee: We do require a $100.00 administrative fee each year due by June 1st. This fee covers costs associated with the club and our insurance. We do offer multiple child family discounts for siblings in the program.

Evaluation fee: There is a $15 fee for evaluations each year.

How do you sign up for meets?

As meet dates are announced, the Director will send them to you. You have the option to opt in or out of any meets you do not wish to attend.

The meet will be a Friday-Sunday but your gymnast will only complete one of those days. We suggest you plan to be open that entire weekend as the final schedule and competition time is not announced until 30 days prior to the meet.

What can I expect at a meet?

Gymnasts will report to their coach 15 minutes prior to their warm up time. They will have warm ups, march in, compete and then awards. The process from start to finish is roughly 2-3 hours.

Do you do private lessons?

Private lessons are at the discretion of the coach. To set up any private session, you would reach out to them directly. This would be an hour session 1:1 with the athlete outside of their normal practice schedule. Gymnasts must be a part of the Rise Above Gymnastics team to have a private 1:1 lesson.

How do I make a payment?

We will be using the Team Snap App for invoicing, you may pay using the app (processing fee will apply).

Our preferred method of payment is check or cash and there will be a lockbox inside the lobby at the gym for these payments.

Monthly payments are due on the 1st of each month. A late charge of $20 is assessed after the 10th of each month.

Is there a discount for multiple children in the program?

We do offer a discount for multiple family children. Please reach out to the Director for more information.

What is expected of parents?

Parents do need to remain in the viewing area at all times. We encourage you to leave the child for practice as they are typically longer and it will reduce any distractions.
